PodCast Information |
Frequently Asked Questions:
What Are Podcasts?
Podcasts are audio broadcasts created and stored digitally on the Internet. Instead of being broadcast over the airwaves once and lost, like with traditional radio, podcasts were created to be stored and played at the user's convenience. Think of them as radio shows waiting to be downloaded. In our case, these are our weekly Weekend Teachings.
Do I Need An IPod To Listen To Podcasts?
No, you can use your computer or any other MP3 player.
How Do Podcasts Work?
Podcasts use RSS (really simple syndication) to "feed" files to your computer. RSS usually involves headlines and text, but a computer genius somewhere has come up with a way to have it move audio files. Once you've installed Podcasting software, such as iTunes, you can select podcasts to subscribe to in two different ways: Either clicking the selection button to see a directory of available podcasts or enter a URL for a podcast you've found on your own.
Most software lets you set the scheduling options so that your computer scans for new downloads as often as you like, or you can control it manually. When it is done downloading new files, it adds them to your library, all ready to be played or synched to your MP3 device. You can also un-subscribe or delete synched files at any time.
How to automatically recieve weekly messages on your computer :
Step 1: Install ITunes
iTunes is free computer program from Apple. It is a music program but it's also made to receive podcasts. The latest version of iTunes is available directly from Apple's website. iTunes is free and is available for both Mac and PC.
Get iTunes
Step 2: Subscribe
Now, you have to subscribe to our podcast. All you have to do is click here and iTunes will launch to our page. Once in iTunes, all you have to do is click "subscribe" and download the latest podcast. From now on, you will receive new PodCasts in your iTunes whenever we post a new one.
Step 3: Download
As soon as you've successfully subscribed, the latest message will automatically begin downloading and you will see the previous messages listed (but greyed out). Please allow some time for the download, since the file size can be large depending on sermon length. After it is complete, you may begin listening to the message.
If you'd like to download previous messages, simply hit the "get" button next to their name.
Step 4: Enjoy!
Listen to your PodCast on your computer or play it on your mp3 player on the go!
